Still keeping a few samples on this website from my years of writing and photographing features for three automotive magazines. One of my favorites: covering TROG West at Pismo Beach for Koolhouse Publishing. Sand and salt, camera and keyboard at a one-of-a-kind event that captured the spirit of human ingenuity and rugged competition.
Washingtonian Tim Hawkins brought his creation to TROG West. Ended up writing a separate feature on Tim's childlike enthusiasm and creativity.
Another favorite: "The Jewel" is a love story about a boy, a girl and a car; and here we are seventy years later and the story continues.
Charlotte Grant, a painter and welder herself, partnered with builder Mark Anderson and me to photograph Mark's amazing, time-warp roadster. Love writing stories with distant beginnings and no real end in sight!
It has been my privilege to do some camera work for Jay Smith who has devoted his life to keeping ancient Viking skills alive. He alone fills the niche in North America. Here we see yellow cedar planking - massive, clear specimens from BC forests -following rhythmic lines inspired by Vikings who fashioned a similar ship in the year 1025.
